  • Education that promotes gender equality is appropriate to the different learning needs of girls and boys, to ensure them equal opportunities for development.
  • Gender socialization and gender stereotypes influence the educational and professional choices of children and adolescents. As a result, gender segregation in education and the labor market is perpetuated.
  • Gender segregation is a cause of divergent educational and professional choices, based on ideas about areas that are right for women or men. Parents and teachers have expectations that boys choose the field of science, technology, engineering, regardless of the academic results they have in these disciplines, compared to girls.
